ABOUT CRESCENT PLACE
A Grade II Listed Building in Cheltenham's Conservation Area
Found in the heart of Cheltenham, Crescent Place is a beautiful Grade II listed building steeped with heritage and situated in the town's Conservation Area.
The first record of its existence stems back to 1855, along with a terrace of Mid- 19th Century buildings. What is now Crescent Place was formerly part of the Salem Baptist Chapel, of which is still reminiscent today with its original chapel windows.
Found next to the chapel was ‘The Great Western Hotel’ first documented in 1859. This was also a public house. (The Great Western)
In 1970 the hotel was renamed The Royal Crescent Hotel. By 1996 it was no longer a hotel and became a succession of bars / restaurants. Starting with Corks Wine Bar, Jim Thompsons in 2001, then on to the oriental bar, Dragonfly, as well as D-Fly, Ange Noir and finally the Stable in 2015.
Purchased post lock down, what is now Crescent Place, was once three buildings. It has been extensively renovated to the highest standard, opened once again as a hotel. With conservation and heritage at the top of the list, you will find quiet nods to its historic past. Amongst its 14 bedrooms you will find an array of stunning chapel windows, full height sash windows, regency style fireplaces, Burlington suites and parquet flooring to name a few.
